The typical marketing tool for models and actors is a head shot, usually an 8-by-10-inch black-and-white photo of the face with a resume printed on the back. Make sure you know the difference between modeling or talent agencies and schools. Agencies secure employment for models and actors, and some require that you sign up exclusively with them. Schools claim to provide instruction in poise, posture, diction, skin care, makeup and more for a fee, but they don't necessarily find work for you

Successful models in small markets can earn $75-$150 an hour or more, but the work is irregular.Ask for the names, addresses and phone numbers of models and actors who have secured recent work based on the company's training. If an agency says it has placed models and actors in specific jobs, contact the companies to confirm that they've hired people from that agency.
Be skeptical of local companies claiming to be the biggest agency or a "major player" in the industry, especially if you live in a smaller market.
Finally, Get everything in writing and keep copies of important papers in a safe place
