A night in with the whole family, watching a family video can be great fun, but how do you know if a video is suitable or not. We have compiled the most popular and suitable family videos.Favourite family videos
- Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets -
- Like Mike - As Calvin Cambridge, Bow Wow is cute, polite, thoughtful, and, not to mention, cool -- a good role model for kids. When the height-challenged orphan finds a pair of discarded sneakers with the initials M.J. inside, he suddenly can shoot hoops just like Mike (as in Michael Jordan). His fantasy (along with millions of kids) then comes true: he gets to play b-ball in the big leagues! "He's lean, he's mean, he's 13!" Morris Chestnut stars as NBA star Tracy Reynolds, who is reluctantly chosen to mentor Cambridge. Together, through some hilarious moments, they teach each other about teamwork. It's a fun, funny, fantasy-fulfilling movie kids and parents will enjoy.
- Lilo & Stitch - Both boys and girls will love the mischievous Stitch, and the equally mischievous and lovable Lilo. As a renegade alien, also known as "Experiment 626," Stitch is bent on destroying everything in his path. That is, until he disguises himself as a dog to hide from the intergalactic police. Enter Lilo, a hula-dancing, Elvis-loving, headstrong little Hawaiian girl who's being raised by her older sister, Nani. She adopts Stitch and together they teach each other about what it really means to be a family.
- Scooby-Doo - Even though the crazy canine is completely computer-generated, his voice, dialogue, and mannerisms are really funny. The rest of the cast--Sarah Michelle Gellar as Daphne, Freddie Prinze Jr. as Fred, Linda Cardellini as Velma, and Matthew Lillard as Shaggy--act way over-the-top, which may amuse some and annoy others. Some of the funniest scenes include Scooby dressing up like Shaggy's Grandma; the main characters swapping souls, so Fred sounds like girly Daphne, and so on; and the hilarious, hands-down winner (for kids, anyway) is the belching/farting competition between Shaggy and Scooby. The movie does impart a message about friendship and how it's important that "friends don't quit."
- Spider-Man - Tobey Maguire does a magnificent job as both the nerd Peter Parker and as the webbed crimefighting superhero Spider-Man. Lots of funny moments, particularly at the beginning when Spidey is learning about his web-slinging abilities and spider sense. Awesome special effects--the scenes with Spidey swinging through New York are truly spectacular. The Green Goblin swooshing around on his Green Glider are lots of fun, too.
- Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones -
- Stuart Little 2 - Voiced by Michael J. Fox, Stuart is funny, sweet, and full of pluck. The best moments involve the hilarious Nathan Lane, who steals the show voicing the wisecracking cat Snowbell, and the spectacular action sequences -- Stuart hitching a ride on a soccer ball, driving his little sports car, and flying a model plane in the house and throughout the city. The movie contains a few good messages for little kids, too: "A Little always sees the silver lining," and "Even if you're small, you can do something big."
- The Country Bears - The on-the-road adventures of Beary Barrington. When the little bear feels out of place in his adopted human family, he sets out to find his destiny at Country Bear Hall, where "you can feel different and still fit in." Upon arriving, Beary learns that the infamous venue is in danger of being torn down; he makes it his mission to reunite the legendary Country Bears for a benefit concert to save the hall.
- Treasure Planet - The story begins with young Jim Hawkins (voiced by Joseph Gordon Levitt) facing the usual trials and tribulations of growing up without a much-needed father figure. Once Jim gets in touch with his inner lightsaber, it's off to intergalactic space in search of Treasure Planet, a faraway destination that (as legend has it) contains abundant treasure beyond imagination. Faster than you can say "Goonies," Jim and his band of comrades -- including Long John Silver (Brian Murray), the half-cyborg pirate captain who has long dreamed of finding Treasure Planet, and Scroop (Michael Wincott), an evil lobster-like thingie with razor-sharp claws -- are racing against time to find the treasure before a band of nefarious pirates do.
