Factors affecting pregnancy due dates

In an attempt to get pregnant, many women seem to forget the scientific background and tools available to plan and succeed in doing so. Before trying to get pregnant it is important that one consults a doctor and undergo certain necessary tests to ascertain good health. Fertility is affected by certain conditions like pelvic infections, age, smoking, previous medications, stress, menstrual disorders, endometriosis etc. It is also important to find out the monthly ovulation dates to maximize the chances of getting pregnant.

This can be done by:

• Consulting the menstrual calendar
• Finding out the basal body temperature
• Checking of cervical mucus
• Urine tests

The choice of the doctor in the above options would be advised to determine what is best for you.

One other important tool is the due date calculator, in which you can enter the first day of your last menstrual cycle. A close date will also work as well, if you do not know the exact date. The due date calculator will display the estimated date of ovulation and the expected due date of your baby. This estimate is based on the last menstrual period and the estimated date of conception. The correct due date has to be ascertained by the doctor. Despite these calculations, it is imperative that you see the doctor as soon as you think you are pregnant.
